  • Can Causes claim Gift Aid on the donations?
Gift aid can be claimed when a UK tax payer donates to a registered charity and the charity can claim back tax paid on the income being donated. However, in our case, the cash donated originates from Charitysupermarkets not UK taxpayers but are sales commissions that have been earned by Charitysupermarkets. Therefore, it is Charitysupermarkets making the donations in accordance with the wishes of supporters of Causes or charity and therefore Gift Aid can not be claimed.

    Top^

  • What happens if a supporter cancels an order/return purchased goods or service?
All Online merchants have a cancellation/ returns policy .This explains why it could take sometimes up to 75 days for donations to be credited to allow for possible returns/cancellations to be affected. However, in an event that a donation is already made before a sales reversal, charitysupermarket would be debited by the same amount in the next payment to her.

    Top^

  • What happens if I have a dispute with my delivery or order.
Since you purchased from a retailer- not Charitysupermarkets you would have to contact the retailer directly. However, we would like to know if you have had a bad service, so that we could consider terminating our service with them if there are several complains.

Top^

  • Can I still use Charitysupermarkets even though I already have an account with a retailer?
Yes. If for instance you already have an account with ASDA or TESCO Direct, you would still generate a donation so far as you use the links on our site to access their sites.

Top^

  • The retailer I want to purchase from is not listed.
Please submit the name of the retailer and we would endeavour to contact them to sign them up

Top^

  • Who pays my Charity or Cause?
The participating Retailers pay cash donations to Charitysupermarkets. We then undertake to distribute the donations on your behalf to your chosen cause

Top^

  • How much will my Charity/Cause get?
A Retailer would typically donate about 4-5% of the total spend to a designate Charity/Cause. A small charge for administration will be incurred on each transaction to facilitate, collect and re-distribute the cash donations Supporters generate to their chosen charities/cause. Our promise is to ensure that these costs of fundraising (currently 30% of commissions received) are comparable to the UK charities average. As we grow we will be able to reduce these charges to well below the UK average.

As an example, if a supporter purchased an item at £100 via a link on Charitysupermarkets, we would expect to get around £5*, £3.5 of which would be re-distributed on behalf of the supporter to a specified charity/cause. It is important to note that the retailers set what commissions/donations they would make.

Top^

  • Why should Supporters of Charities/Causes need to use Charitysupermarkets to buy online goods/services?
All of the participating online retailers on our website have agreed to pay a commission/donation in the form of a cash donation every time supporters shop via Charitysupermarkets and buy a qualifying product from them.  If supporters do not access the online shop via our links on Charitysupermarkets, then the donation will not be activated and their nominated charity/cause would not benefit from the donation.
